Kylie Radburn is a degree-qualified nurse and governance advisor with additional qualifications in quality auditing, workplace assessment and training, infection control, workplace health and safety, and board governance.
Beginning her career in clinical leader, quality manager and service manager roles, Kylie then joined the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (then called the Aged Care Standards Agency) as Accreditation Manager for Queensland. In this role, she managed the aged care accreditation process through its set-up operations, including recruiting, training and managing the assessor workforce, and making over 2000 accreditation decisions.
Kylie subsequently worked as an aged care consultant and nurse advisor. In these roles, she supported the development of care and operational governance systems, with a focus on a practical approach to compliance and the integration of care management systems into care software applications. She also continued her interest in accreditation and standards development, working with a number of accreditation providers and participating in standards development projects, including the RACGP Standards for general practice, Immigration Detention Health Care Standards, Physiotherapy Standards, the ARVAS Retirement Living Standards, and Diagnostic Imaging Standards.
In her present role as Chief Governance Officer for Apollo Care – an innovative national alliance of aged care communities – Kylie has responsibility for all aspects of corporate governance, including risk, policy, compliance and aged care registration. She has led the alignment of Apollo Care’s governance systems, policies and practices to the Aged Care Act 2024 and strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, including in relation to food and nutrition in the home care setting.
She is also a director on the Trilogy Care board (Australia’s the second largest provider of home care) and the chair of their Quality Care Advisory Body.
Kylie has had the opportunity to view the aged care sector from multiple perspectives over her 25-year career, including as a clinician, clinical leader, manager, trainer, auditor, regulator, and advisor. She is passionate about the provision of quality, rights-based aged care, and the positive impact that effective governance systems can achieve this outcome.
